Ever onward

Sun Jan 11, 2009, 1:33 PM
Added a few more pictures today.
Done a couple of outings using my new 150mm Macro and so far so good. It is a heavy lens, but its increbily sharp.
It made me realise how crappy my monitor was at home.

So now I have a new monitor as well as a new lens.

I'm starting to think about going all primes in my setup. Just about every picture that I have that really stand out for me have been shot with one of my primes. The zooms are convenient, but the end result is what I'm after.
Only way I am really going to know is if I buy more primes to at least cover some more points than what I've got and see if I miss the zooms.

Christmas update

Wed Dec 24, 2008, 7:48 PM
Finally getting some pictures added.
I find I am much more critical of my images that I used to be, which is resulting in fewer images that I want to put on to DA.
Ah well, expect more in a day or two.

Change of pace

Fri Aug 22, 2008, 6:59 PM
Plenty-o animal pictures in the past while from me, so time for some more landscapes.
With the exception of the picture of my cat, Leo, who has been missing since August 14th.

Back from vacation

Thu Jul 17, 2008, 10:55 AM
Me and the wifey took a nice long vacation, and not so much in the time regard.
A 6500km drive that covered over a dozen various zoos and aquariums and about 10000 pictures between the two of us along the way.
I won't get to out of hand in uploading ones to here, just some of my more liked ones.

Updateddddddd

Sat May 17, 2008, 8:45 AM
At some point I may update this journal as often as I add to my gallery, until then I'll just enjoy the cakester I just ate.

Anyway, right to business: The 75-300mm lens is dead. Well, the AF is dead... It was whining and grinding and sounding unhealthy but it still struggled a long to semi focus, then I picked up one of the camera bags with the lens in it that wasn't closed and it hit the floor. Now its MF only.
On the plus side of things, I had already replaced that lens with a 70-200L f/4.0 which was a huge improvement over the 75-300.
On the downside, this left us with only one telephoto lens again that was really usable.
I got a great deal on a 70-210 f4.0 for the wifes camera and another camera bag, and a camera.

And in future plans:
The wife and I are planning a good long trip.
Going to drive from Saskatoon to Minot to Bismarck to Fargo to Minneapolis to Milwaukee to Chicago to Battle Creek to Detroit to Niagara to Toronto and then back home. By the end it will be over 6000km's of driving.
